New Camera

So I want to get a new camera, and I was thinking about getting a digital SLR.  I am not sure which one would be the best for a beginner and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions?  I was looking into the Nikon D40.

This site has a lot of good information and good reviews.  Does anyone have a d40 and like/dislike it?
